Remarks
Soft, malleable, silvery metal of the lanthanide group.
Reacts slowly with oxygen, rapidly with water. Used in alloys for
permanent magnets, flints, yellow glass for eye protection for welders,
etc.
Diagnostic tests:
There are no simple diagnostic tests to identify praeseodymium.
X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy is commonly employed to identify and
analyze members of the Rare-Earth group elements.
